PRADO

PRADO (Public Register of Authentic Identity and Travel Documents Online) is a website run by the Council of the European Union. The sample documents available are published by expert representatives from the EU countries, in addition to Norway, Iceland and Switzerland.

PRADO contains detailed information about genuine European travel and ID documents, including some of the main security features. Please note that the database is not complete with all European documents/versions, but is constantly being revised and updated. In addition there is information about some documents from countries outside Europe.

PRADO is available to the public and aimed towards employers, postal services, banks and security companies. PRADO is free of charge and does not require users to sign in. The website is available in a number of languages, and contains a comprehensive dictionary featuring technical terminology and methods of examination.
