iFADO

iFADO (intranet False and Authentic Documents Online) is a database hosted by the General Secretariat of the Council of the European Union. Its content is selected and provided by the Member States of the European Union, as well as Iceland, Norway and Switzerland.

iFADO contains critical information about the security features of genuine ID and travel documents, as well as visas and stamp impressions. These are primarily from EEA countries but there is also some information about countries outside of the EU. Alerts about false documents are also published here. Every member country has a responsibility for its own documents while third country documents are divided according to need and capacity. The National Crime Investigation Service, NCIS (KRIPOS), is the contact point for iFADO in Norway.

Use of the database is free of charge, however, only authorised persons are granted access. The Norwegian ID Centre can provide usernames and passwords to those working in the immigrant authorities in Norway, who can document a need for access for business purposes.
