Biometry encompasses the physical features and/or observable behavioural characteristics of a person. Biometry can be used both for recognition and verification purposes. Examples are fingerprints and portrait photos. The word 'biometry' comes from the Greek 'bios' meaning 'life' and 'metron' meaning 'measurement'.
